Jeff Reinebold

JEFF REINEBOLD
Special Teams Coordinator

Jeff Reinebold brings an extensive and varied coaching background to Hamilton as the Tiger-Cats Special Teams Coordinator.

This will mark Reinebold’s 10th season in the CFL in a coaching career that has spanned almost three decades.   He served as defensive coordinator for the Montreal Alouettes last season, helping the Alouettes finish in first place in the East Division with the fewest points allowed among all Eastern squads.   The Als ‘D’ also surrendered the third-fewest yards (6,348) to opposing teams.

Reinebold received his first taste of CFL action in 1991 when he joined the BC Lions as special teams coordinator, defensive line coach and receivers coach.  He would later take defensive and special teams coaching roles with the Las Vegas Posse before returning to the Lions as their assistant head coach and defensive coordinator in 1996.

After a year with the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe, Reinebold was named head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1998.

After two years in Winnipeg he returned to the Rhein Fire as linebackers coach, winning World Bowl VII in 2000, and would also spend three years with NFL Europe’s Amsterdam Admirals as their special teams coach.

In 2003, Reinebold served as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Louisiana Tech before joining Hawaii’s staff as their defensive line coach.  From 2008 to 2011, he was the wide receivers coach at SMU where he tutored a handful of future pros, including Emmanuel Sanders, a third-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010.

He began his coaching career as the wide receivers coach at Western Montana and would later take positions at Dartmouth, Montana, Pennsylvania, Rocky Mountain College and New Mexico before beginning his CFL coaching career.

In addition to his coaching experience, Reinebold has also served as NFL Europe’s Senior Manager of International Player Development and a colour commentator on Sky Sports NFL telecasts.

The South Bend, Indiana, native attended the University of Maine where he played defensive back for the Black Bears.
