With Miles Gorrell being inducted into the Tiger-Cats’ Wall of Honour at halftime of Thursday’s home game against the B.C. Lions, here is a reminder of how inductees are chosen for the most prestigious award the Ticat organization can present to one of its players or builders.
Current Nomination Criteria for Players
- Waiting Period: The player must have been retired for three seasons before being eligible
- CFL Recognition: Includes Canadian Football Hall of Fame selection, league all-star selections, individual awards
- Statistical achievements: significant career totals, notable seasons, memorable games, team/league records
- Leadership roles: Captaincy, play-calling responsibilities
- Winning: Grey Cup and Division titles, contributions to successful seasons and/or key victories
- Media Recognition: Local and national media acknowledgement of accomplishments
- Club Longevity: Prolonged and successful time with Ticats spanning at least four seasons
- Character: Exemplification of values of Tiger-Cats organization on and off the field, community involvement, exemplary conduct with teammates, coaches and staff
- Other awards, records, and supporting comments from the nominator
