The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Sunday the football club has signed national offensive lineman Chris Van Zeyl.
Van Zeyl, 35, started 17 games at right tackle for the Toronto Argonauts in 2018 and was named an East Division All-Star for the fifth time in his career (2013, 14, 16, 17). Over his 11 seasons in Toronto (2008-18), the two-time CFL All-Star (2013, 17) played in 156 career games with 147 starts and won Grey Cups in 2012 and 2017. Van Zeyl was originally selected by the Montreal Alouettes in the third round, 18th overall, in the 2007 CFL Draft before joining the Argonauts in September 2008.
Prior to turning pro, the 6-6, 312-pound native of Fonthill, Ontario played four seasons (2004-07) as a defensive tackle at McMaster University, recording 42 tackles and 11 quarterback sacks. Van Zeyl earned CIS All-Canadian and First Team OUA All-Star honours in 2007, and was a Second Team OUA All-Star in 2006.
