Tiger-Cats Sign All-Star Defensive Back Jamal Peters

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Tuesday, the football club has signed American defensive back Jamal Peters.

Peters, 27, started 13 games for the Toronto Argonauts last season, registering 32 defensive tackles, including two tackles for loss, four interceptions, five pass knockdowns and two forced fumbles. The 6’2, 220-pound native of Bassfield, Mississippi has suited up in 36 games over his three seasons in the CFL, with the Argos (2021-22, ’23), totalling 120 defensive tackles, six tackles for loss, one quarterback sack, 11 interceptions, 19 pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles and one defensive touchdown. He was named a CFL and East Division All-Star in 2022.

Collegiately, Peters played 45 games over four seasons at Mississippi State University (2015-18) before signing with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent. Following his all-star season in 2022, Peters returned to the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and spent time with the club before signing with the Argos in July 2023.
