The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Friday, that the FirstOn the Field Flag Football program, presented by FirstOntario Credit Union, is returning for the seventh year.
Tiger-Cats players, including Mason Bennett, Marc Liegghio, Joel Figueroa and Brendan O’Leary-Orange, will host over 350 students from Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board at Tim Hortons Field on April 22nd. The players will guide the students through football fundamentals in a safe and enjoyable environment.
“FirstOn the Field Flag Football has become one of the staple programs for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats,” said Courtney Stephen, Senior Director of Marketing of Hamilton Sports Group. “The program is a great way for our players to give back to our community and familiarize the students with football in a fun and safe manner. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to Tim Hortons Field and visit the schools throughout the year.”
As part of this program, students will receive coaching from Ticats players and coaches, emphasizing fundamental football skills and development. Participating schools will benefit from complimentary transportation to and from Tim Hortons Field, with Ticats players accompanying each bus. Additionally, all participants will receive a gift bag containing mini footballs, eye black, a voucher for Ticats tickets, and more, courtesy of FirstOntario Credit Union.

For the first time ever, the Tiger-Cats are taking the FirstOn the Field program on the road, taking the fun directly to schools in the Hamilton region. Throughout the year, Ticats players will visit schools in Hamilton, Niagara, Brantford, and Waterdown and provide an in-school program, teaching kids football fundamentals and emphasizing an active lifestyle.
